Inclusion and Diversity Statement

I acknowledge that I live and work on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of the Coast Salish peoples–Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), Stó:lō and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) Nations. I will work towards decolonization and reconciliation with First Nations, Metis and Inuit peoples through my work and within my community.

I recognize that “All Lives Matter” deny and minimize the lived experience of Black, Indigenous and People of Colour. For that reason, I acknowledge my privilege and am committed to recognizing my own implicit bias and life-long learning in order to better advocate for the people I work with. I am also committed to amplifying and centering voices from oppressed and marginalized (LGBTQIA+, women, differently-abled) groups through personal choices and photography projects.

To ensure inclusivity, I will always work to create a safe space for all individuals, families, organizations, and companies for whom I am photographing. I will work to create work with more diversity so that People of Colour and Indigenous Groups will feel seen, acknowledged and valued.

My commitment to care, community and change includes supporting businesses owned by People of Colour, aligning with vendors and companies that support People of Colour, learning from Black and Indigenous photography educators, and donating to organizations that are allied with and work towards undoing systemic racism and discrimination.

Please consider this statement as an invitation for my accountability to this long-term work. I hope you will join me in it.
