Vancouver Family Photographer | Cake Smash at the Beach

When a family comes with an idea that bridges the gap between stylized and documentary sessions, you don't say no. Instead, you leap for joy on the inside and go along for what you know will be an awesome session.

Most days, I tell myself, two kids are all I can manage. When I see Danielle and Chad, and their four littles, I feel envious that I don't have more babies to hug at night. It's because they just let them be the awesome kids that they are. Minutes into the session, a code brown happened and a diaper change is required. Then a fern sword fight/tag broke out in the forest. And hit the reset button and we finally make it down to the water for a little stroll to the beach. This little bit of coast line takes my breath away every time I'm here, session or no session. A perfect place for seal spotting :).

The actual reason for this session is to celebrate little miss A turning one. She was a blessed surprise from the very beginning. And now her infancy is almost a thing of the past and it's time to mark that milestone with an oceanside cake smash, which turned into an epic family-sized cake throwing event. Danielle told me from the get go, she doesn't do posed. She has me to thank for spoiling that for her. So glad that documenting real life is sinking in for my families! Embrace it, and I promise it will continue to bring you joy over time. Here are some highlights from our evening together. Happy first birthday Ms. A! I could cuddle you all day long!
